🌌 Psalm 8: Who Are We That You Remember Us?
(retransmitted by Virgin Monk Boy while lying in the grass, overwhelmed by stars and mosquito bites)
1
O Radiant One
Your name shimmers beyond names
It stretches past galaxies
and nestles inside a child’s laugh
You have wrapped the universe in wonder
and tucked power into the tiniest voices
2
Even the cry of a newborn
bears the echo of eternity
Even the babbling of fools
can become praise
if we listen slowly enough
3
When I look at the sky
when I see what you have sculpted with silence
the moon, the stars, the blazing ungraspable
I do not feel small
I feel home
4
What are we
that You even bother?
Not kings
Not masters
Just breath wrapped in longing
and still
You lean toward us
5
You made us just beneath the light
You crowned us
not with gold
but with awareness
You gave us the work of tending
not ruling
of naming
not owning
6
All things pass through our hands
the wild
the wounded
the wondrous
Beasts of land
birds of sky
creatures who swim through shadow and current
all of them
part of the same breath
7
O Love
Your presence fills this world
not like a system
but like a song
May we sing it
May we stop interrupting it
May we remember
who we are
—Virgin Monk Boy
(who once tried to capture the moon in a jar
and now just lets it kiss his face)
Breathe in Eternity
Exhale Bliss
Sandwich in between Love
