I will remember that phrase, "improving the costume" next time I start confusing my outer self with my true essence. I love what you wrote here.

Thank you for this insight. It’s transformative for me. I need to read this every day. I’m so tied to my personality.

“…an under-seasoned cloud” 😄 Oh man, despite its description, that was so tasty! Hahahaaaa. When my personality seeks the eternal neutral, I end up strung out on heroin. At least I’ve “leveled up/in” from there.

Messy blessings VMB

Connecting with your Higher Self is not only possible but highly desirable. You'll be amazed at what comes through and your ego will have nothing to do with it. The connection is made at the emotional level, usually through Meditation. You FEEL the Presence and what messages He/She has for you. I've been doing it for 30 years. Back in the 80s they called it Channeling. It is not that dramatic. It is simply Connecting and its always Personal - just for you!

"Essence is deeper.

Essence is the original shape of your created being. The true, natural, uncontaminated flavor of you. The ray of divine possibility that came through the prism of your actual life. Not some generic spiritual blob floating around in beige linen pants. You. The particularity of you. The unrepeatable tincture of your aliveness."

This is the best description of individual being I have ever found. Thank you!

What a brilliant post, so many insights! Like this: “people become spiritually mannered instead of spiritually alive”

First….confession….while still pondering this mind transforming, heart altering post, part of me refuses to stop laffing nonstop, not at the subject matter but some of the truths worthy of late-nite comedy the way you describe them…..”it is not the same as having profound thots of consciousness while being rude to the person who interrupted your profound thots of consciousness” 😉….VMB is not here to outlaw flavor…”contemplative oatmeal” 😊 …and my favorite “someone not laughing at your joke becomes the dark nite of the soul….” 😂

I’ll try to stop interrupting myself laffing & commend you on honing in like a special delivery pigeon on pretty much every aspect of my personality that has surfaced & stayed for a large chunk of my life on planet Earth. i was a theatre major - COSTUME. Segued into rock & roll disc jockey - another COSTUME. Then became a flight attendant - HAD to wear a COSTUME & of course all had to have a personality to match working in front of the public & developing that personality to match the costume. While grateful for a life getting paid to do things I adored & loved, Long Covid drop-kicked me to my knees 6 years ago & POOF what had been 5 decades of focus on “Personality” vanished.

Itz taken a long time to adapt to the change & if that hadn’t happened & I was still slinging drinks at 50,000 feet high, i probably wouldn’t have read this. Or be studying A Course in Miracles. Or learning about Mary Magdalene, that my beloved Lutheran minister/missionary/pastor grandfather never taught about because HE wasn’t taught about her.

My personality is in great need of these words laced with both deep wisdom & outrageously delicious humor that sticks it to my brain foggy mind like Elmer’s glue. Repeat readings are guaranteed & not just to lift my spirits, ease the pain - but to head me in a direction that called to me long ago & patiently waited & never stopped - beautiful blessing & as usual, incredibly grateful for guiding me on a path i knew was somewhere but needed more of a road map than a choir singing, “Onward Christian soldiers….”.

Thanx for holding that lantern in the dark & offering a road map beyond Personality so my Essential Self gets a chance to show up. 🌄
