Cynthia Bourgeault pointed me to Jean-Yves Leloup’s commentary on the Gospel of Mary—and it changed everything. This post explores how their teachings converge, offering a bridge between Centering Prayer and the Prayer of the Heart through the voice of Mary Magdalene.
Just bought Leloup's book a few days ago (on audible, prefer books but eye nerve pain doesn't) & was planning on reading Cynthia's next after the appetizers youve shared in your posts so WOW Thanx synchronicity/instinct/guidance (don't believe in coincidence except for the old definition that itz gods way of staying anonymous) &;YOU for writing this. Now I'm motivated to get out of bed so I can go get my massage. Itz the little miracles that enable me to blossom when my doubts are blooming large 😉
I've been a fan of Leloup for a long time now... I think I discovered his translation of Thomas 12 years ago, and it is still my favorite translation BY FAR, and the meditative commentary on each logion is pretty much as close as you can get to lectio divina in print!
I've had his translations of Mary and Philip (which he did before Thomas), and they are also good, (although the lack of commentary on Philip is disappointing), but his translation of the Gospel of Thomas should be right beside the canonical gospels in every Jesus-followers's library.
Well you just answered the question I asked you in another post a few moments ago. Thank you!
BTW I wrote key linkages in my spiritual path which led me to you and Mary. It’s very long and all history. I intended to copy it so I could add to my personal journal. It was quite brilliant and I felt awakened at a new level. As often happens I fumbled my iPad as I was readying to hit SEND, and my personal masterpiece of my revelations along the way went “poof!”
Then I laughed out loud! This writing wasn’t meant to be shared!!! My Ego wrote it and was very self-satisfied!🤣🤣🤣 I’m meant to lose my old self so that I can uncover my real Soul Self. The Heavenly team of Guides are watching every move I make. My list was filled with miracles, but alas I am called to move on. I ended that diatribe by asking you to recommend a worthy Commentary on Mary’s Gospels…so I was scrolling through your web list, spotted this one, and in less than 5 minutes my question was answered. WOW, you, Mary, my Guardian Angels are good! Caroline Myss gave her definition of Faith: “giving permission to let your angels in.”
Well I did, and they seem to be falling over themselves to lead me to the next step! I need to fasten my seat belt for this ride!❤️🤣🤣🤣
You just performed the most sacred kind of editing — divine deletion. The angels must’ve looked over your shoulder and said, “Beautiful effort, beloved ego, but this one’s for compost.” Then they hit backspace.
And somehow, you still caught the thread.
Your story isn’t lost. It soaked into your cells. The best revelations usually do. Who needs a record when the next step is already on its way?
Mary’s got you. Your guides are giggling. And that seatbelt? Might as well toss it. This isn’t the kind of ride that comes with airbags.
I bought both books recently & will read them according to your suggestions. Thanks! 📚

(In my humble, humble, oh-so-humble opinion!)
I have those as well! I agree Gospel of Thomas should be there.
