I always think if Jesus's admonition about the repercussions for those who lead them astray. They really seem to have multiplied in my lifetime and also have seeped into "regular" churches and pseudo religious political organizations. I feel so sad about all the children raised in them.
Celia, that sadness is holy. Jesus said better a millstone than wounding a child, and yet the mill keeps grinding. Not just in sects on the fringe, but in churches that pass as respectable while feeding kids poison wrapped in hymns.
Grief is the right response. But grief can also be a lantern. It keeps us from pretending this is normal. It keeps us awake enough to protect the next ones.
Sorry to jump in Celia and VMB but that bit of respectable churches feeding kids poison wrapped in hymns is just so true and so personal. I loved those hymns in our respectable church, I was weaned on them, and only when the scales fell off my eyes many many years later did I see that the words were harmful. Nice tunes though, perhaps I'd better write some alternative words.
I think you are right on. I remember Onward Christian Soldiers in early years of school. Catchy tune. But as I grew and learned, I was very confused as to why God would needed an army to go to war.
It’s possible to be of another race and still choose evil. My mother was a survivor of a WWII Japanese internment camp in the Philippines. It was pretty horrendous but she still said, “There’s good and bad in everyone.”
Damn! (In my Kendrick Lamar voice)
Thanks VMB, this one hit different
I’m speechless. Which never happens.

There seem to be several of them out there.

Yeah...and yet I wonder, if this dude and his family were considered "white" enough, if there would've been charges brought? :(
